Ready for some retro? Platformer Cyber Shadow brings the aesthetics and rage-quit inducing difficulties of 80's gaming to modern consoles. — Yacht Club Games/dpa Argh, but I was so close! If you like your games oldschool and frustratingly difficult to complete, then you’ll get your money’s worth with “Cyber Shadow”. Reviving the era of 8-bit computer games, this frustrating new platformer is all about jumping at the right time and offers players tricky action sequences in a fun, pixelated environment. You might still remember games like “Ninja Gaiden” or “Mega Man” - horrendously difficult titles that drove gaming fans insane in the 1980s and early 1990s. In these kinds of 2D jump’n’run arcade games, the character ran from left to right, jumped over platforms or traps and had to clear out tons of enemies. Decades later, this is how “Cyber Shadow” also works. In this game, you take on the role of a ninja who, armed with a katana sword, stands in the way of an artificial life form threatening to destroy the world. As befits a proper retro game, the graphics are chunky and minimalist. The sound effects and music are also reminiscent of the days when the Nintendo NES console and Commodore C64 computer dominated children’s rooms. ”Cyber Shadow” is also a really tough nut to crack and timing is everything: If you don’t dodge enemies in time or jump off a platform at the right moment, you’ll be done for faster than you can say ”joystick”. Again, this is not a game for people who get frustrated easily. Another classic feature is that you can power up your weapons for a certain period of time. For example, the ninja can temporarily shoot fire with throwing stars or increase the sword’s range. ”Cyber Shadow” will be released for PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. – dpa
